Author John Kiser has written several books and continues to speak around the world. His previous book set in 1990s Algeria, The Monks of Tibhirine — the inspiration for Commander of the Faithful — was “the bible” for the May 2010 award winning Cannes Film Festival film Des Hommes et des Dieux (Of Gods and Men) by director Xavier Beauvois. In 2006, The Monks of Tibhirine was awarded the prestigious French Siloe Prize, which is awarded annually for outstanding books on a humanistic topic. John Kiser was the first American to receive the award during a nine-year history of the prize.
