This series of lessons delves into the extraordinary life of Abd el-Kader, a revered Algerian leader, and his enduring legacy.
Beginning with his formative years, the lessons explore the cultural and religious foundations of Islam that shaped his identity. As “Commander of the Faithful,” Abd el-Kader led a determined 15-year resistance against French colonial forces, demonstrating unwavering integrity and compassion, even toward his enemies.
His captivity in France highlights his resilience and intellectual growth despite broken promises. In exile in Damascus, Abd el-Kader lived his faith, risking his life to save thousands of Christians during the 1860 riots, earning global accolades. Finally, his legacy is celebrated worldwide, inspiring reflection on the relevance of his principles in contemporary times.
